Reflexology

Thumbs and fingers are used to stimulate  change within the soft tissue on the feet, hands and ears. This works to improve the function of organs, glands, and all systems of the body.

The goal is for total body relaxation leading to balance of the internal and external body systems; improving circulation via stimulation to the nervous and subtly energy systems.

Acupressure is a traditional Chinese medicine technique that involves placing physical pressure by hand, elbow on different acupuncture points on the surface of the body to relieve symptoms. The goal  is to restore health and balance to the body's channels of energy and to regulate opposing forces of yin (negative energy) and yang (positive energy). Acupressure treats the energy fields and body as well as the mind, emotions, and spirit.

Acupressure

Reflexology (Zone Therapy) is a simplified form of acupressure for the feet, and can be applied to the hands and ears as well. Areas on the foot correspond to areas of the body as shown on the chart.

Reflexology is applying pressure to various points on the feet while simultaneously channeling Reiki. Pressure is applied at a level that it is not painful… If there is pain, that is an indication of a problem area. You can refer to this chart to determine which area of the body an existing pain relates to. The tender areas are gently massaged with increasing pressure until the pain is relieved.

Hand, and foot reflexology is often combined with Reiki while using an Aromatherapy blend designed for whatever problem(s) the recipient may be experiencing at the time. Combinations of these three modalities has proven to be extremely powerful…

Benefits of reflexology

Generally speaking,  the benefits of reflexology have to do with the reduction of stress.  Because the feet and hands help set the tension level for the rest of the body,  they are an easy way to interrupt stress signals and reset the body’s equilibrium.  Reflexology is a complement to standard medical care. It should not be construed as medical advice, and it should not be a replacement for traditional medical help.

A survey of 170 reflexology studies from 21 countries shows that reflexology is effective for a variety of physical and psychological concerns, including: Mental health, anxiety, pain relief, decreased nausea and vomiting in post-chemotherapy patients. Improves blood flow to the feet, brain, kidneys and intestines. Promotes relaxation and reduces pain. Reflexology helps where nothing else can for  phantom limb pain sufferers, neuropathy patients, and hemodialysis patients to name a few.

Reflexology

The Ear Reflexology maps are based on the concept that the ear, foot, or hand are connected to all the other parts of the body through the nervous system or “energy” system.

Interestingly, Dr. Nogier put forth the concept that the ear can be mapped by comparing it to a baby curled into the fetal position as shown on the right.
